FATHER A TRINITY
Father
Wood, Stone, Marble
1991
Sited at Kildrummy Caste Open 6
The work ‘Father’ consists of three conceptually linked elements; A Trinity.
Each element has ambivalent readings which provide a context in which to reflect on the meanings in the title word. The larger wooden piece has the implication of meditative and locomotive movement; the sandstone element has the form of a sarcophagus and a missile, and is so physically related to the larger that it appears to have been its motor and core.
The white marble piece is set on a pedestal at some distance facing outwards from the affiliation, but is both a memorial and the essence of the other two.
This piece was conceived with the history and physicality of the Kildrummy Castle site in mind.
